The Euro Pallet

What is a Euro Pallet? How does it differ from the other pallets?

According to Wikipedia, it is a standard European pallet which is specified by European Pallet Association (EPAL). This enables the pallet to be a part of the European Pallet Pool, a system that allows the pallets to be interchangeable and shared throughout the supply chain by manufacturers and businesses that dealt with the replacement, exchange, or repair of pallets used to transfer goods.

The original Euro Pallet was specified as 1200 x 800 x 144 mm (47.2 x 31.5 x 5.7 inches) and has been standardized since 1961. It was originally specified for wooden pallets with even the number of nails specified as “minimum of 78 nails”!

The following table gives the standard dimensions of several different standard European pallet types, including its International Organization of Standardization counterpart.
